Accelerate Automotive Bloomfield Premier 3 vs Palmy Legends P3

Saturday 22nd of November 2025- Ongley Park 11- Grass

Match Report

After just one request, the write-ups have returned. We’ll probably miss the odd game here and there, and the P4s may struggle to get coverage due to their lack of ability to read or write, but we’ll do our best for the loyal Bloomfield faithful.

Rolling in unbeaten, the lads were humming with confidence and itching to finally play on a grass wicket. Captain Trout — yes, we voted him in again, God help us — won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Gaz and Kieran (Baby Trout) opened the attack. Gaz struck early, removing Arsh Dhillon for 6 before Ben attempted to catch Ibraheem Rafay with his teeth, dropping it in the process. Fuelled by blood loss and pure self-loathing, Ben replaced Gaz at the MCA end and redeemed himself by picking up Rafay for 9 in his second over. With Pilch bowling beautifully at the other end, the Palmy innings stalled hard.

Palmy crawled to 65/2 at drinks — platform set, but looking light on intent.

Ex-Bloomer, ex-MawHawrian, current-Bloomer, forever-loves-us-more-than-winning Christopher Carlton-Bishop joined Kurtis in the attack. They grabbed a wicket each, but Shawn Thomas was digging in like he was being paid by the hour. The run rate never really lifted; the batsmen looked keen on rotating the strike, but Bloomfield’s fielding pressure kept the squeeze on.

Pilch returned and finally picked up the wicket of Shawn Thomas for 28. The incoming Palmy bats tried to lift the rate, but Baby Trout came back on and absolutely torched the tail, snatching 4 wickets in short order. Palmy limped to 165/9.

With 40 overs of wicketkeeping and scoring under his belt, Sam Roebuck walked out expecting pain — but instead delivered fireworks. Tyler played anchor at the other end while Sam smacked the bowlers off their lengths and into all regions of the ground. Max Chopra eventually ended the carnage, removing Sam, and suddenly Palmy sniffed a comeback.

Max and Baldev Gill ripped into our top order, sending Trout, Dave Watson, and Pilch back cheaply. After Tyler fell for 29 not long after drinks, Kurtis and Bish added handy knocks of 15 and 14, but it was Caleb “Chicken Cuckoo” Green who calmed the storm.

Palmy bowled tight, fielded well, and made every run a battle. But in the final over, Cuckoo iced the game with a couple of crisp boundaries, sealing a 2-wicket Bloomfield victory.

A much tighter result than we’d hoped for, but easily our toughest test of the season so far. Next week: Stallions

Bloomfield Omanuka Premier 4 vs United Panthers

Celaeno Park2 - Artificial

With round 4 upon the mighty Nuka, coming off 3 losses to start the season, there was this sense of hunger amongst the team for its first win. Facing off against United Panthers, Captain Dan G won the toss and after a good effort with the bat last week thought it would be a great idea to bat.

Shane-o, the man known by many names but today it will be the Wolverine, opened the batting with George. The Wolverine in set the tone early, sent the first ball straight up in the air, much to the Mohan’s surprise who then dropped it. From there, George took charge, hitting a few good boundaries. B-Cat came to the crease after a couple of wickets to hold an end for the team, he proceeded to setup camp like he planned on staying all night, showing a extensive repertoire of defensive shots. George succumbed to LBW for a useful 25 at the end of the 11th over to bring Captain Dan G out to bat, who came in to camp with B-Cat for a few overs but also departed to an LBW for 11. From there, the situation looked dire, two more batters came and went without troubling the scorers, the big guns were called for.

Glen ‘the wall’ Miller wandered out to the crease, and started blocking before the ball was even bowled. Glen and Bevan proceeded to have an epic battle of who could defend the best until Bevan decided he had enough of defence and was caught in the 29th over for a stoic 19 of 74. That brought in the Powerful Pooh Bear, who attempted to swing at everything and eventually cut the ball on to his own stumps for 10. Seth followed with an entertaining 7 that included a lot of dancing down the wicket, which ultimately was his downfall being stumped by a keeper who was about 4 metres behind the stumps. Senitha joined Glen ‘the wall’ Miller at the crease, who with the over’ left dwindling decided to go on the attack and hit the ball as hard as he can, getting caught for a useful 9 off 49 leaving Senitha not out on 4.

With the help of a few extras…..22 of them, being the second highest scorer, a subpar total of 115 was set. But with a rousing speech from Captain Dan G and some impressive catching practice, we knew something special was about to come.

Senitha was given the new ball, and after a bit of shaky start, struck in his second over. After the first 5 overs, with United already on 45, things were looking dire but things were about to change. The decision was made; it was time to release The Wolverine and B-Cat. A masterful display of wizardry and theatrics from The Wolverine had United on the ropes, they didn’t know what to do. B-Cat, not to be out done by The Wolverine, joined in with some lovely slow balls to pick up his 50th club wicket.

What looked to be almost an impossible task after 5 overs, was now all but inevitable just 5 overs later at 65/5. Nuka could smell the blood the water, pressure being applied every ball, The Wolverine and B-Bat being almost unplayable. United continued to collapse, and when they did get hold of the ball, the man with buckets for hands was there to catch it. In just 16.4 overs, it was done, United out for 85, B-Cat with 5 wickets and well on his way to his next milestone for the club. The Wolverine picking up a very tidy 4 wickets and the Nuka getting their first win of the season. Bring on next week when they take on the Bloomfield Gators and show them who’s the best Bloomfield team in P4. #UpTheNuka.

MVP: 3 - Bevan Catley, 2 -Glennis Miller, 1 – Shane Keen
