Club Round at Ongley

Accelerate Automotive Bloomfield Premier 3 vs Palmy Stallions.

Saturday the 29th of November 2025, Ongley Park 12- Grass.

A sunny, windy day greeted us at Ongley Park as all three teams gathered for our Club Day. The two P4 sides were facing off on Ongley 13 while the P3 lads took on the Palmy Stallions on 12. Before play began, Craig Trim was presented his cap for 100 games — a well-earned milestone — and then Trout trotted off for the toss.

There had been plenty of conversation beforehand about how we’d only set a total once this season and were probably due to have another go. Trout lost the toss anyway, and we were sent in to bat.

With Tyler playing in the P4s this week, Chicken opened the batting with Geoffrey’s friend Sam, who again looked for an aggressive start but was out early for 3. Chicken then continued with Trout, who was hoping for a big innings at three after something of a dry spell. Like a sand-country farm in January, the dry spell continued, Trout bowled for 2.

David Watson/Archibald was next in — a man who hadn’t seen many runs since putting Maw Haws to the sword earlier in the season. Together, Archibald and Chicken battled away, doing their best to run each other out and making hard work of accumulating runs. A brain fade the ball before drinks saw Archibald’s innings end on 36.

At 81–3 at drinks, things were looking reasonable, with the thought that 160 or so might be a par score on a wicket that looked a little slow but occasionally had extra bounce. Chicken fell shortly after drinks, caught at square leg, bringing Chris Sharrock (Geoffrey) and Kurtis to the crease.

If scoring looked difficult before drinks, it certainly wasn’t afterwards. The Stallions’ attack was sent to all parts of the ground as the run rate climbed sharply. Kurtis sped to his first 50 of the season in just 32 balls before being caught for 55 with only a couple of overs left. Jase, Pilch and Gaz all spent time at the other end as Geoffrey continued to dispatch the bowlers, finishing unbeaten on 78 off 62.

Bloomfield posted an impressive 241–7.

The Stallions began their reply solidly, losing no wickets to Gaz or Kieran, but the cost was their run rate — which slipped below the required pace and never recovered. Contributions from Ebin PK and Thomas Paul, along with a well-made 53 from Varghese George, weren’t enough to put them back in the contest.

By the time the batsmen started swinging, Kurtis was there to take advantage, snaring 5–31 and ending any thought of a late surge. The Stallions’ innings closed in the 36th over at 155 all out, giving Bloomfield a comfortable 86-run victory.

MVP: Kurtis-3, Geoffery-2, Kurtis-1.
